Botero in the streets

After the street art of the Cow Parade the art of Fernando Botero can now be seen in the streets of Milan. Six of the Colombian artist’s “huge chubby ” bronze statues are joyfully decorating the squares and streets of the Milan. The statues are complementary to the exhibition of the artist at Palazzo Reale from the 6th of July to the 16th of September. About 150 of Botero’s works of art created during the last 10 years and chosen by the artist himself are on display. The exhibition is divided into three thematic areas: The Circus, The Historical section and in startling contrast the section entitled Abu Ghraib, which shows about 40 paintings based on the horrific events in the infamous Iraqi prison. I love the art of Botero - we are lucky to have two sculptures of his on permanent display in Time Warner Center in NYC.
